Mabel’s Labels’ HR strategy centres on innovative ways to attract talented staff and engender loyalty. The vast majority of our workforce is female and we recognize the needs of working mothers by offering alternative arrangements including working from home, a shorter work day and job sharing. We also feel it is important to provide our full-time employees with supplemented benefits, including medical and dental. Perks, social events, a $200.00 health and wellness employee stipend and mini-massages during the busy season by a RMT are further examples of our strategies to engage and retain skilled employees. We encourage professional development of our staff and selves through association memberships and seminar and conference participation (an example being attendance at company culture conferences by leading online retailer Zappos). To recognize the contributions of our team we recently allocated the $5000 cash prize of a consumer award to staff development. Employees lead skill-sharing “lunch and learn” sessions plus Health and Safety, Community Relations and ‘Smiles & Chuckles’ social events committees, amongst others. Our profit-sharing plan is a further example of our commitment to encouraging talent in talented people. The resultant sense of personal achievement, job ownership, empowerment and skill development are fundamental to Mabel’s Labels’ progressive corporate culture and support our growth strategies.
